Frequently Asked Questions

How often do I need to come to therapy?

It's up to you! I work with clients to determine a schedule that is going to be most supportive for their needs at this time in their life.  Whether the schedule is weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or another schedule, the focus is on the needs of the individual and what is working best for them at this time.

What if I need to cancel?

Pause Counselling & Psychotherapy requires at least 24 hours notice for cancellation. If you do need to cancel with less than 24 hours notice, there is a 50% cancellation fee.

How are sessions paid for?

Sessions can be paid by Visa, Mastercard, or through e-transfer.

What can I expect from therapy?

Therapy is a collaborative process where the therapist and individual work together to establish goals and assess needs. The first few sessions there is a focus on building relationship and rapport, and from there, we focus on starting to work on the goals that have been discussed.  As needs change, so do goals, and we work together to review and reflect on goals and when it may be supportive to end therapy.

Are sessions in person or virtual?

All sessions are conducted from the convenience of your home, using an online secure system, JaneApp.

Are sessions covered by insurance?

If your insurance plan covers Registered Psychotherapists, sessions may be covered. Sessions are fee for service; following the session, clients will receive an invoice that can be submitted to their insurance agency for reimbursement.
